I am questioning what happens recently

Do I need to ask? Or Do I just follow this path?

Can I question about this?

To get knowing the certainty

Although, sometimes I know life is full of uncertainty

If I can question this

It will be somewhere ot just go nowhere

I can shut down this feeling

And I do not do silly things

Can I ask you the question then?

And now, will you give the answer?

The certainty answer without the vague one like before

Because I am in the limit and give the question to myself

Do I just stop and let you go

Can I question this one more time?

Self-Directed Learning (SDL)

I was grateful that I got the topic that I can learn and improve myself.

I got the topic of Self-Directed Learning for my thesis. While I was reading many books about that and really nice to find the book with the appendix of many quotations. I picked up several of them to remind me of never stop to learn. It’s a life-long process, never end.

  • It is of practical value to learn to like yourself. Since you must spend so much time with yourself you might as well get some satisfaction out of the relationship. -Norman Vincent Peale

  • The man who can drive himself further once the effort gets painful is the man who will win. -Roger Bannister

  • Not everything that can be counted, counts. And not everything that counts can be counted. -Albert Einstein

  • You might well remember that nothing can bring your success but yourself. Embrace and love all of yourself – past, present, and future. Forgive yourself quickly and as often as necessary. Encourage yourself. Tell yourself good things about yourself. -Melody Beattie, Author

  • The wizard of OZ was right when he said to believe in ourselves. Like Dorothy, we must be true to ourselves and allow others to help us reveal the answers that are already inside of us. -Brian Koslow

  • Maturity involves being honest and true to oneself, making decisions based on conscious internal process, assuming responsibility for one’s decisions. -Mary Pipher, Clinical Psychologist

  • The only prison we need to escape from is the prison of our own minds. -Anonymous

  • The real person you are revealed in the moments when you are certain no other person is watching. When no one is watching, you are driven by what you expect of yourself. -Ralph S. Marston Jr.

  • He who controls others is powerful but he who masters himself is more powerful still. – Lao Tzu

  • The most beautiful experience in the world is the experience of mysterious. -Albert Einstein

  • Listening is the beginning of understanding. Wisdom is the reward for a lifetime of listening. Let the wise listen and add to their learning and let the discerning get guidance. – Proverbs 1:5

  • Keeping track is a matter of reflective review and summarizing in which there is both discrimination and record of the significant features of developing experience. It is the heart of the intellectual organization and of the disciplined mind. -John Dewey, Experience and Education

  • To care for another person, in the most significant sense, is to help him grow and actualize himself. -Milton Mayeroff, On Caring

  • Do not worry that children never listen to you: worry that they are always watching you. -Robert Fulghum

  • The brain’s capacity and desire to make or elicit patterns of meaning is one of the keys of brain-based learning. We never really understand something until we can create a model or metaphor derived from our unique personal world. The reality we perceive, fell, see and hear is influenced by the constructive process of the brain as well as by the cues that impinge upon it. -Merlin C. Wittrock, Handbook of Research on Teaching

Confessing vs Eating

When I joined the retreat last February, I skipped for the confession. Actually, I had many chances to do that, but I did not do that.

A few days ago, I had a conversation with my friend about the meaning of confession.

I had the same question with her, ” Why do we need to the confession if we are making the same mistakes again, again, and again?”

And my heart said that I had to do that in this holy week and I did it. I was a little bit curious and asked the Father about that.

He asked me back, “How many times do you eat in a day?”

“Three times in a day, Father”, I answered.

“You keep eating although you know you will get hungry again”.

“Yes”, I replied.

“When you go to confess, it’s the same with eating. You know you will be hungry again after eating, but you still do it. You know that you will commit a sin, but you still go to confession.”

And he continued, “God does not make you are being a right person directly, and you do not have sins anymore, but He diminishes it a bit. He does not want you are proud of yourself but instead keeps humble.”

When love means more than the word “I love you”.

When love means more than the romance.

When love means more than a gimmick.

Love is always patient and kind; it is never jealous;

Love is never boastful or conceited;

it is never rude or selfish;

it does not take offence and is not resentful.

Love takes no pleasure in other people’s sins but delights in the truth;

it is always ready to excuse, to trust, to hope and to endure whatever comes.

Love never ends.

(1 Corinthians 13:4-8)

Let Go and Let God

Today I let go and let God take charge of this life of mine.

Now in the dark corners of my soul, His light is beginning to shine.

All of the cares and worries that I have carried around for so long

He has lifted them from my shoulders and filled my heart with love.

Problems that were overwhelming suddenly seem very small, and come what may, starting today, I know I can handle them all.

Mon Apr 22, 2013: In transit from Toronto to Paris

Tue Apr 23: In transit from Paris to Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port

The plan:CDG to Paris Gare du Nord every 5 to 7 minutes; takes ~25 min; TGV 8537 dep Paris Montparnasse 12h27 arr Bayonne 17h32; TER 67331 dep Bayonne 18:07 arr  Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port 19:33 Note: We missed our train from Montparnasse by buying the wrong ticket from the airport. Human help is sadly absent or too far away in Paris stations and we let a local buy our tickets for us. Our ticket didn’t let us on the subway at Montparnasse – the right one should have. For these tricky situations take the time to find an information kiosk. Don’t panic. We caught a later train to Bayonne (more money) and took a taxi from there…

pic-maas2_monikatokIf you can keep your head when all about you

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you;

If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,

But make allowance for their doubting too:

If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,

Or being lied about, don’t deal in lies,

Or being hated, don’t give way to hating,

And yet don’t look too good, nor talk too wise;

If you can dream—and not make dreams your master;

If you can think—and not make thoughts your aim,

If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster

And treat those two impostors just the same:

If you can bear to hear the truth you’ve spoken

Twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,

And stoop and build ’em up with worn-out tools;

If you can make one heap of all your winnings

And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,

And lose, and start again at your beginnings

And never breathe a word about your loss:

If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew

To serve your turn long after they are gone,

And so hold on when there is nothing in you

Except the Will which says to them: “Hold on!”

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,

Or walk with Kings—nor lose the common touch,

If neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,

If all men count with you, but none too much:

If you can fill the unforgiving minute

With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,

Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,

And—which is more—you’ll be a Man, my son!
